Sarangapani as a son

Lord performs pitru tarpana and srāddha for his devotee, out of Love, on the day of Deepavali!

A devotee named Lakshmi Narayanaswami served Lord Sarangabani (Thirukudhantai, Kumbakonam) throughout his life, considering Supreme Lord to be his very own son. He is the one who built the Rajagopuram (High Temple Tower) of the Kumbakonam Sarangabani Temple. But he was childless. He reached the Lotus feet of Lord on a Deepavali day. Any one having no heir to perform the last rites would have a hard journey before reaching Yama, the King of Justice, in the afterlife, according to scriptures. Lord cannot ignore His devotee, thus He performed the last rites for His devotee. Next day, when the temple was opened, Lord appeared with a wet dhoti and His sacred thread, Yagnopavitha, changed to the right shoulder, darba in hands in libation rite-performing manner. The Supreme Lord, who is fruit of these rituals and beyond all ritualistic practices, comes down to personally to serve for the satisfaction of His devotees. His love and mercy is unparalleled!
